What’s the Best Diet?

04 Sep What’s the Best Diet?

What is the best diet?

As an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, this is a question I hear a lot!

Unfortunately, there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to your dietary approach.

To start, think about a few things when determining what “diet” approach you want:

1.  What approach am I most likely to stick to?

Ask yourself:

    • What foods are included?
    • Do I like those foods?
    • Why will this approach will work for me?
    • Can I afford it?
    • How much effort is required?

2. Next reflect on your dieting history.

What has worked for you in the past?

This is a tricky question – did the previous approach really work for you if you’re back in the same place, starting another “diet”?

Spend time reflecting on that question.

Did you gain the weight back?

If so, what was missing with that approach?

What will be different this time?

How can you make the results last?

3. Is it flexible?

One of the important things for a sustainable weight loss approach is flexibility.

Life will always throw you curveballs, so make sure the approach is adaptable.

Can you see this plan fitting into your life?

For example, an intermittent fasting plan where you finish eating at 4PM might not work well for a mom who wants to have dinner with her family every night.

4. Does it have proven, long-term results?

Does the approach allow you to eat enough calories?

Does it allow you to eat a varied array of foods?

Does it provide macro and micronutrients to support your optimal nutrition- without relying on tons of supplements?
